Description

A delightful meal that brings sweet and savory flavors together, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides, then place them in the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Once done, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and set aside.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the sauce in the slow cooker and stir well.
  7. Return the chicken to the slow cooker and coat it with the thickened sauce. Allow it to cook for an additional 10-15 minutes on low until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  8. Serve the honey garlic chicken over cooked rice or noodles.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
